WIM Disney Short Film Christmas Traditions

This new Disney short film will make you wonder who’s cutting onions.

This morning, Disney UK and Ireland released From Our Family to Yours, which celebrates the power of family traditions. The short film is centered on a Filipino family.

Watch it below:

The short film begins in 1940, where we are introduced to a young girl who is given a Mickey Mouse doll by her father. In 2005, she is a grandmother passing down the tradition of parol-making to her granddaughter. The Mickey Mouse doll has also been passed down. The granddaughter grows up to be a young woman and slowly loses interest in her lola‘s tradition. Enter ninjas cutting onions.

The video is accompanied by UK-based singer Griff singing “Love is a Compass.”

From Our Family to Yours is a Christmas video that marks Disney’s 40-year partnership with the children’s charity, Make-A-Wish.

The short film can be seen across 26 markets, such as Australia, New Zealand, North America, and select locations in Asia.

A real version of the doll in the short film will also be for sale, and parts of the proceed will be donated to Make-A-Wish organizations. Disney is also encouraging everyone to share their favorite memories with the hashtag #LoveFromDisney. For every memory shared, they will donate $1 (roughly P48.13) to Make-A-Wish, up to $100,000 (roughly P4,813,500).
