ICYMI, Netflix just released the official trailer for the film adaptation of Death Note. For those who have no idea what Death Note is, this trailer will probably get you intrigued by the whole concept of it.
But for fans of the original story, this first look at the Netflix movie wasn’t exactly what they hoped.
Take a look at the newest trailer below:
Death Note is based on a manga series by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. It follows a high school student who finds a notebook that gives him the ability to kill anyone whose name is written on it. Hence, the death note.
So yes, it’s a pretty solid concept, but people aren’t exactly happy with the Netflix adaptation, with issues of whitewashing taking the spotlight.

For me, I think one of the best things to happen to this Death Note adaptation is Willem Dafoe (aka Green Goblin in the Toby Maguire Spider-Man movies) being cast as the voice Ryuk, or the god of death. Because really, his creepy voice is just perfect.
Still, I’m actually looking forward to watching this because, hey, it’s still Death Note.
