WATCH: ‘Sex Education’ is getting a second season!

In case you haven’t seen it yet, Sex Education is that Netflix series everyone was talking about on your timeline a few weeks ago. It’s a coming-of-age story that centers on the drama, relationships, and sexual exploration we experience in High School. This typical premise is made slightly atypical when told through the lens of Otis (Asa Butterfield), a repressed virgin turned amateur sex therapist.

According to Netflix, Sex Education is one of their most successful originals with about 40 million views in just 4 weeks. Many attribute the series’ strength to its genuine characters who make the journey compelling.

They’re able to air out taboo topics in a way that normalizes them.

And we’re about to get another season of this ‘universally relatable series’. Production on a second season consisting of another 8 episodes will begin in Spring 2019. There is no air date yet but we should be able to expect it by January 2020 at the latest, since this was the premiere date of the first season.

Majority of the team behind season 1 will be returning. Confirmed to be reprising their roles are Gillian Anderson, Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee-Lou Wood, Connor Swindells, Kedar Williams-Stirling, Tanya Reynolds and Patricia Allison. Creator Laurie Nunn and executive producer Jamie Campbell will continue to lead production on the next season.

(Disney and Marvel will begin pulling out movies from Netflix in 2019)
