Graduating from college is both such an exciting and a scary time in anyone’s life. The only thing you’ve been sure of, which is to go to class everyday, is suddenly no longer a part of you and you are left to face something that seems worse than having no options at all — unlimited options.
You suddenly have a million questions burning in your mind. What path do I want to take? Where should I work? What is my passion? What is the thing I would love to do for the rest of my life?
Philip Wang, one thirds of popular film making group Wong Fu Productions, was called upon to deliver a commencement speech at the University of California, San Diego, where he graduated with his Wong Fu buddies. And his speech is probably one of the most inspiring I’ve heard, not because of all the quotable inspirational quotes or the big encouraging words, but simply because it was relatable. And for a baffled crowd of twentysomethings about to dive into the world of unknown, a little familiarity goes a long way.
