Lightyear, the origin of the inspiration behind the much-loved Buzz Lightyear of Toy Story, was announced last year but I honestly hadn’t given it much thought. So when the teaser trailer was released today, I was a little surprised… but happy. The vibes are completely different from the Buzz that we know… and Buzz looks completely different, too. Of course, that’s a given, seeing as it is about the character who inspired Buzz… not Buzz from Toy Story himself. I tried explaining this to my 11-year-old and she was hella confused, but that’s okay. Let’s just roll with it. Just watch the trailer here:
To top it off, Buzz is voiced by Chris Evans aka Captain America. Last December, Chris posted a tweet to tell everyone, “This is the origin story of the human Buzz Lightyear that the toy is based on.” Did that explain it better?

Anyway, there’s a lot of confusion regarding the movie on Twitter right now, regarding the timeline of events, whether the movie was actually “necessary”, and whether it is connected to Toy Story at all, but we’re just happy to see a movie with our favorite space ranger coming soon. 🙂
