Kristen Stewart has always been known to challenge the status quo, breaking through barriers and redefining terms for herself. And in her latest ad for the fragrance Gabrielle under Chanel, we see the actress finally dancing and running in the video, to Beyoncé’s song “Runnin”.
Kristen is shown in a cocoon-like structure, when she gradually breaks free. slowly unwrapping herself. As the last fabric on her body falls off, she runs into a wall of perfume, admiring the scene afterwards.
The concept is pretty much brilliant, and perfectly captures Kristen’s spirit, as well as the fragrance. According toChanel’s head of global creative resources Thomas du Pré de Saint-Maur, “We deliberately took the opposite line from storytelling. Instead of retracing [Gabrielle Chanel’s] life, we chose to put the spotlight on her free and rebel-at-heart personality.”
