Veteran Actor Pen Medina Hospitalized, Family Calls for Help to Fund His Surgery

The family of veteran actor Pen Medina is asking for financial help from the public after he was brought to the hospital due to degenerative disc disease.

Degenerative disc disease, a condition common among older adults, “happens when one or more of the discs between the vertebrae of the spinal column deteriorates or breaks down, leading to pain.” An article on Medical News Today also said that “treatment may include occupational therapy, physical therapy, or both, special exercises, medications, losing weight, and surgery.”

Medina has been in the hospital for three weeks and is unable to sit or stand up. He is said to undergo spine surgery on July 19.

“Due to the pandemic, our dad scarcely had any work, which siphoned his savings over the past two years. We are trying to help him as best as we can but it will be a long road to sufficient recovery for him,” Medina’s family wrote in a statement. “We humbly appeal for your charitable help and prayers as our family navigates through helping him get back on his feet — literally and figuratively.”

Those who’d like to extend help to the family may do so through Kathleen Medina, Pen’s daughter, on her bank accounts listed on the post.

We are sending our well-wishes for his speedy recovery.
