In January, the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines shared Carlson’s farewell message. In the official statement, she reflected on Filipino hospitality as a shared experience that allowed her to build meaningful relationships and establish trust among friends, partners, and the wider community.
“I quickly learned that renowned Filipino hospitality extends to being very forgiving of one’s vocal range. It’s not about how well you sing; it’s about the shared experience that helps build meaningful relationships. In the Philippines, contacts become colleagues; colleagues become friends; and friends become family,” she said in her farewell message.
She also expressed her great pride in serving as the U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines, calling it the “highlight” of her four-decade-long career.
Carlson served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of the Philippines from 2022 to 2026, during which she worked to strengthen the alliance between the United States and the Philippines. Prior to this role, she served as the United States chargé d’affaires in Argentina.
President Donald Trump has named Florida businessman Lee Lipton to assume her post.
