The UP Samahan ng mga Mag-aaral sa Komunikasyon (UP SAMASKOM) is reviving one of its brainchild to bring laughter and to lighten up the mood for this year’s student elections while carrying the organization’s notorious brand of comedy. The performing group plans to transform their online talk show Halalan at Halakhakan to a live performance, reviving the line: “Dahil napakaseryoso ng halalan, break muna at maghalakhakan!

An online show which started in 2013, Halalan at Halakhakan became an effective student initiative to showcase the lighter side of candidates both from local and university-wide student councils.

The talk show will run with a humorous question-and-answer portion, comic challenges, cheering segments, and more! Voters and supporters will be given the chance to get to know their candidates better under a different light. What’s more, everyone can watch it for free on March 31, 2017, at the UP College of Mass Communication Dap-Ay.

UP SAMASKOM President Erl Navalta said.

The three university-wide political parties will be invited to participate, especially the standard bearers from Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights in UP (STAND UP), Nagkakaisang Iskolar para sa Pamantasan at Sambayanan (UP KAISA), and UP Alyansa ng mga Mag-aaral para sa Panlipunang Katwiran at Kaunlaran (UP ALYANSA).

Former KAISA candidate and now PTV host Jules Guiang was one of the first guests of Halalan at Halakhakan in 2013.
