UP Los Banos Student With Rare Disease Graduates Cum Laude!!

These graduation stories are inspiring!

First, it was Tiffany Uy’s mindblowing 1.004 GWA, next was the cum laude couple from UP Baguio that went viral, and now, BS Computer Science student Carl Adrian Castueras just graduated cum laude from the University of the Philippines Los Banos — all while battling a rare muscular disease.

Since 8 years old, Carl Adrian has been in a wheelchair after being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), a degenerative muscular disease. DMD is a genetic disorder that weakens one’s muscles and currently has no cure.

Local reports say that since Carl Adrian has been diagnosed with the disease, his mother, a former marketing executive, resigned from her job and wheeled her son to school everyday until he went to college, as he cannot maneuver the wheelchair on his own. According to reports, Carl cannot lift his arms up, but he can write.

After four years of hard work and determination, it was also his mother who pushed Carl Adrian’s wheelchair at her son’s graduation.

Hats off to you, sir!

What do you think of this? Got anything to add to the story??
