The University of the Philippines Society of Geodetic Engineering Majors (UP GEOP), a recognized academic and socio-civic organization based at the College of Engineering, University of the Philippines Diliman, proudly presents GROUNDED 2026: THRIVE, its flagship initiative dedicated to community service and educational support.

Through GROUNDED 2026, UP GEOP aims to give back to the community by donating a significant portion of the event’s proceeds to help establish a community learning cart for its partner community—a place where children can learn, grow, and feel supported. This year’s theme, THRIVE, encapsulates the organization’s vision of nurturing growth and resilience through education, engagement, and empowerment.
Now in its sixth year, GROUNDED continues to inspire volunteerism and uphold its mission of service, focusing this year on basic education and literacy for the children of Pook C.P. Garcia. The initiative unfolds in three phases that symbolize the journey of learning and development. ROOTS lays the foundation through tutorial sessions in reading and arithmetic, conducted by GEOP volunteer tutors in partnership with the UP Church of the Risen Lord Tutorial Ministry. S.T.E.M. (Support Through Engagement and Movement) drives fundraising efforts through movie screenings and donation campaigns, encouraging active participation and collaboration. Finally, FRUITS culminates the project by providing school supplies and establishing the Learning Cart, a mobile educational resource designed to sustain learning opportunities for the children of Pook C.P. Garcia.
To bring this vision to life, UP GEOP will host a benefit movie block screening fundraising event on June 20, 2026, at Cinema ’76 Film Society, located at the corner of Tomas Morato Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. This community-driven initiative will feature a screening of Toy Story 5, with proceeds directly supporting the establishment of the Learning Cart and the provision of school supplies for the partner community.
Beyond its academic roots, GROUNDED has grown into a tradition of compassion and civic engagement. Since its inception in 2020, the initiative has embodied UP GEOP’s commitment to service—from the “Para Po! Sa Inyo” donation drive for UP IKOT drivers to “Takbo Para sa Tindero,” a community fun run supporting campus vendors affected by redevelopment projects. Each year, GROUNDED redefines what it means to serve, reminding students and partners alike that engineering extends beyond technical expertise. It is also about building bridges of understanding and hope.
As UP GEOP celebrates its 25th year of promoting excellence and service, GROUNDED 2026: THRIVE stands as a testament to how education and empathy can transform communities. Through this initiative, the organization continues to uphold its mission of shaping future engineers who are not only skilled but also socially responsible, grounded in purpose, and driven by service.
