Under Armour, the American sports apparel brand that makes all athletes better, launched in style last May 31 at Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City.

Under Armour was founded by former American football player Kevin Plank, who was constantly frustrated by his regular sportswear’s inability to wick sweat away and keep him comfortable while playing. The technology behind Kevin Plank’s apparel which helped athletes perform better was so good that major sporting brands (which would later become big competitors) such as Nike and adidas adapted to this situation and released their own versions (Dri-Fit and Climacool, respectively).

Under Armour has been making athletes better overseas since 2006, and it was high time it came to our shores.

The Philippines is an incredibly athletic country, where nearly every person engages in at least one type of sport – from street basketball to heading out of town for a triathlon event. Personally, and as a pretty sporty guy myself, I was excited that Under Armour would be in the Philippines – and right at my backyard as well, in the middle of Bonifacio High Street, BGC!

From the apparel and gear available currently (Spring/Summer 2014 collection), it seems that Under Armour Philippines is catering to the current Filipino needs as most of the items are sport-specific for running, including the UA HeatGear Sonic, UA HeatGear Flyweight, Coldblack, and Under Armour Compression. Should be seeing more runners with UA gear on!
