This comes after Twitter saw a 26% increase in tweets worldwide expressing gratitude and thanks. They also saw an increase in the use of the praying emoji and the clapping emoji in early March.
Last May 12, Twitter posted, “To give you another way to show your gratitude, weโve created an emoji that will appear when you use #thankful or other hashtags for #gratitude (in various languages).”
Last March, Twitter also encouraged users to tweet clapping hand emojis on World Health Day to show support to our frontliners. Earlier this month, Facebook also launched a ‘care react’ย to show extra support while many of us are apart.
