With Halloween just around the corner, excited celebrants and trick-or-treaters worldwide are likely scrambling for witty, cute, and last-minute costumes.

Fortunately, for those still searching for ideas, Google Trends has released its annual Frightgeist list of this year’s top 25 trending costumes.
According to Google Frightgeist, the trending list is calculated based on “year-over-year comparisons from September 2024 to September 2023 search interest in the United States.”
Topping this year’s Frightgeist is Shrunken Head Bob from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the sequel to the 1988 classic comedy-horror film.
Raygun and CatNap claimed the second and third spots, respectively. Raygun is an Australian breakdancer who went viral for her zero-point performance at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, while CatNap is a purple cat from the horror video game series Poppy Playtime.
Five characters from the animated film Inside Out also made it to the rankings, including Envy, Anger, Disgust, Anxiety, and Joy.
Sabrina Carpenter stands out as the only female celebrity on the list. With her strong online presence and hits like “Espresso” and “Please, Please, Please” dominating pop music this year, the American pop star ranked ninth as a trending Halloween costume idea on Google.
As for the male celebrity counterpart, American rapper Soulja Boy secured the 24th spot.
In 2023, Barbie held the number one spot on Frightgeist‘s list.
