Sitting inside a cafe, I was imagining the worst-case scenario. When she disappears for a few days, what does she do? Does she go out there eliminating evil? Does she provide pleasure in exchange for money?
My heart was pounding but we’ve done this many times over, share a meal and a drink over a serious conversation. She shed a lot of tears on those, telling me her heartaches especially when the world wants to define her and put her in a box.
She’s an enigma that I wouldn’t dare solve.
My thoughts were interrupted when I saw her sashaying toward me.
“Are we breaking up?” I was kidding.
Of course, it was a joke. We were never a thing in the first place.
“You should eat first.” She was serious. Her eyes were reddish as if she cried recently.

She got me coffee and a clubhouse sandwich. She knows how I like it, plain and simple – just black.
“I really liked what happened – the connection, the witty banters, the deep and meaningful talks… The flirting.” This was different, she wasn’t looking at me. Her eyes were nailed on her fingers, fiddling with her ring.
“But.. but I can’t do this anymore.”
“Okay.”
She was the epitome of beauty, grace, and euphoria, but she let me see the real her, including the uglies. She allowed me a peek between the cracks of her crumbling perfect life.

Before parting ways, we hugged. “But seriously, what do you do, really?” I was curious. “Are you an assassin?”
“You’re lucky I didn’t kill you.” She smirked as she skedaddled.
