When in Manila, no one does a party like Zedd on a Saturday night! It may have been the Grammy award-winning DJ/producer’s third time to perform in the country, but the all the hype and excitement leading up to the Manila leg of his True Colors 2015 Tour did not seem to wane one bit. Clearly, Filipinos can’t get enough of Zedd! As I reel from a monumental hangover from last night’s spectacular set, let me give you three reasons (cause really, all you need is 3) why the Zedd experience is indeed sweeter the third time around. - The Turnout was Incredible!
Mall of Asia Arena has a full-house capacity of over 20,000 people. That’s an incredibly huge number, and an equally incredible feat for an artist to be able to fill it up for a performance. Yet Zedd managed to do just that, practically filling MOA arena to the brim during his set! I have honestly never witnessed an event so packed – witnessing thousands of fans swaying to the beat and singing along was just mind-blowing.
- Zedd Dished Out Nothing but the Hits!
Despite having heard of Zedd’s music countless times at clubs, witnessing him personally spin them out live was an entirely unique experience altogether. Every beat and drop felt fresh and exhilarating, and surely didn’t feel like a tired old track I’ve been hearing over and over. Among the hits Zedd played included his mixes of Magic!’s “Rude” and Bastille’s “Pompeii,” as well as originals like his collab with Selena Gomez’ “I Want You to Know” and Hayley Williams’ “Stay the Night.” Zedd didn’t leave out the classics either, spinning favorites like “Clarity” and “Spectrum,” much to the crowd’s delight.
- The Energy was Practically Palpable
When you’re in amongst a crowd at huge event, it’s easy to gauge whether everyone’s enjoying themselves. For Zedd’s TCT set, I’m happy to say that all in attendance had an evidently amazing time. Everyone from the upper box areas down to the dancefloor/pit were happily swaying their LED lights, singing along to every song, and dancing non-stop. It was such a great experience just vibing off everyone’s energy, and witnessing how losing one’s self in the beat actually brings everyone together.
I have so much love for artists such as Zedd who are able to consistently hold the crowd’s attention throughout their performance. There were absolutely no lulls in between each track, as one hit seamlessly transitioned into another, with everyone collectively dancing to the beat all the while. Kudos to Neverland Manila for putting together a one-of-a-kind production! Third time’s definitely a charm; we love you too, Zedd!
