Things To Do When In Cebu!

When in Manila, mention Cebu and one would immediately think of great beaches and wonderful resorts. I have to admit that it was also my first thought, what I didn’t realize is that Cebu is already a bustling busy metropolis much like Manila with nary a water in sight. The beaches and resorts are within Mactan airport’s vicinity which is about a 30 to 40 minute cab ride away from the city center.

While the white sandy beaches are still relatively near, we didn’t want to waste our time traveling since we were only going to be there for a few days.  My friends and I decided to just enjoy what thecity has to offer.

So what is there to do in Cebu CITY?

1. Visit Magellan’s Cross

There are “praying ladies” right outside who would pray for you when you buy some candles from them.

4. Get an adrenaline rush at Sky Experience Adventure

Edge Coaster, Tower Walk, Urban Zipline, Vertical Climb and so much more but thats not all. We were told that since the zipline is quite short, the owners of Crown Regency Towers are already building one that would zip you several buildings away.

5. Look for Cebu’s Best Mango Chocolate (Belgian Chocolate-Dipped Dried Mango Strips)

These gems of a treat are actually quite elusive and can be found at Cebu’s Best. Priced at 350 pesos per box of 12, each piece is sure worth your every penny.

6. Unwind at Cebu IT Park

With nothing to do at 10 in the evening, we decided to check out the IT park and we’re glad we did. Most establishments are open till late. We chose to chill at Ilaputi while listening to a live band and enjoying their totally cool interiors.

7. Mall hop: SM City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu

Yes, I know, SM and Ayala. They’re already at every corner in Manila, should you still go? Personally, I love malls so it would be a shame for me not to pay these big establishments a visit. Plus CnT Lechon and Cebu’s best ribs at Casa Verde can both be found in Ayala so there.

8. EAT!

What’s a vacation without indulging? Eat to your hearts content and worry about your diet after. You don’t want to be missing out on what could possibly be the best lechon in the country, right?

AA BBQ is another famous foodie haven offering fresh seafood cooked upon order.

9. Experience unparalleled hospitality

What made our vacation extra special is seeing smiling faces everywhere. We’d occasionally encounter strangers on the street giving us a smile. The mall security guards are all extremely helpful as well. More than just giving directions, two even walked us to where we needed to go. The guard at East West bank (Quest hotel branch) even directed traffic so we could cross the street safely since we were at the foot of a flyover with no pedestrian lanes in sight.

10. Shop for Pasalubong and Souvenirs

Stop by an Islands Souvenirs store and grab something to remind you of the wonderful vacation that you just had in Cebu. They sell every souvenir item from personalized shirts to tasty treats.
