The Taft Initiative Goes Above and Beyond Taft Avenue With Tahanan Anniversary Concert

As the effects of the pandemic are still being felt by communities all across the country, people with the best intentions at heart continuously step up to the plate in order to address these problems. Whether it may be to provide food for starving families and those in need, to creating projects that serve as an avenue for raising awareness to the different social and political issues at present, the Filipino youth has always thrived in the service of others.

Enter, The Taft Initiative, which was founded back in June 2020 by current DLSU undergraduate Euson Go. His love for the Taft community and passion for helping others sparked a movement that drastically changed the lives not only of its eventual members, but also the beneficiaries that the organization holds dear. From various projects such as the multiple installments of the Pay-it-Forward Fundraising Campaign, to Paskong Taft, and The Love Initiative, this rising student-led organization has made an impact on the Taft community by continuing to help the local businesses strive by purchasing meals through the donations gathered, and disseminating them to those in need.

As the organization celebrates its first year of operations, it has decided to expand its reach by partnering with Hospicio de San Jose, one of the oldest charitable institutions in the Philippines, to bring to everyone Tahanan – The Taft Initiative’s Anniversary Fundraising Concert. This will be the main highlight of the fundraiser drive which started back on June 5th, and will last through August 7, 2021 as they hope to gather Php 100,000 by the end of it all.

The concert will feature the fastest rising OPM acts from different universities, and will be headlined by Kamara and Martti Franca. It will be streamed live on the Taft Initiative’s Facebook Page (facebook.com/thetaftinitative) on July 31st, 2021 starting at 6:00 PM.

This project is spearheaded by founding member and the Operations Head of The Taft Initiative, Marianne Dinsay, and the Events & Partnership Assistant Head, who’s also one of the performers for the event, Zach Adao.
