Black Olive at Capitol Commons Has the Mango Sangria That Can Mend All Broken Hearts
Capitol Commons is a new thriving neighborhood near the food hub, Kapitolyo, that is prominent for premium chow and drinks. At its core sits Black Olive Cerveceria – the brainchild of Chef Carlos Miguel, the same chef behind Publiko in Eastwood City and the booming events place 71 Gramercy.
The name Black Olive Cerveceria is alien to me, especially the cerveceria part. After spending a few minutes on Google, it seems that cerveceria has something to do with beer or brewery. Living up to its name, I noticed that Black Olive Cerveceria serves a variety of beers from different countries with some of them poured directly from a frozen tap. My personal favorite, Stella Artois, was present at the bar.
Before drinking, we started with some bar chow. Unexpectedly, Black Olive Cerveceria serves heavy bar chow, with a selection of succulent burgers and kebab wraps to boot.
Even if I just took a bite from the Chorizo Burger, the Italian Burger, and the Porchetta Sandwich, I was only left with little space for booze.
I was instantly attracted to the Italian Burger because of its copious amount of melted cheese topped with caramelized onion. Add to that the tasty and tender beef patty.
The Porchetta Sandwich was good, but it could have been great if the porchetta was served with rice rather than inside buns.
A sampler of kebab wraps also arrived at the table – four of them to be exact. There was chicken, pork, beef, and lamb.
These kebab wraps kinda reminded me of the shawarmas I have tried in Dubai. Albeit dry, they were well-seasoned.
The highlight of the night was meeting the Mango Sangria – the booze that can mend all broken hearts. It was a perfect combo of sweet and refreshing with a hint of inebriation with every sip.
When in Manila and nursing a broken heart, Capital Commons‘ Black Olive Cerveceria’s Mango Sangria is the quick fix to moving on.
