The Lily: Your Home Away From Home

Nestled in the quiet little town of Lian, Batangas, The Lily is a quaint home a minute walk to the beach where you can kick back and relax. Lian is a renowned resort area and is only a three-hour ride from Manila. The Lily, though, amidst the hustle and bustle of all the resorts in the area, is a quiet little escape from busy businesses and other resorts. It is a perfect getaway for those who want to relax and unwind.

Named after Ian, the owner’s, mother, he claims that The Lily is a reflection of her mother’s, Lilia’s, personality of being calm and captivating. The house has 4 rooms for rent; a bunker room which can accommodate up to 8 people, 2 ground floor rooms each good for two, and a terrace room which can also accommodate two people. Guests can also rent the whole house and can fit up to 25 guests.

As soon as you enter the home, you will be impressed with the decorations and all the little details. The look and feel will automatically make you feel like you’re home.

The rooms in The Lily are usually rented out separately, but the common areas like the lounge, kitchen, and living room are very spacious and has plenty of seating space for everyone renting the home.

The yellow walls throughout the home is very warm that matches the Contemporary Asian feel they wanted to convey through the design.

There are is no television or wifi in the home; the owners want to serve the purpose of a fuzz-free living. It is perfect for those who want to bond with their partners, friends or family without technology constantly getting in the way.

There is a dining table that can seat 8 people, but there are other tables that guests can use when eating, like the gazebos outside the house that has barbecue pits for some ihaw-ihaw session pool side.

The indoor kitchen also has a little dining area. There is a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and sound system where you can also entertain guests. The outdoor kitchen is where all the cooking happens as it is complete with your kitchen needs like the stove, ref, pots and etc.

Across the indoor kitchen are the ground floor rooms which can fit 2 people, but has an extra sofa bed. All the rooms are air-conditioned and fully-furnished.

The 2nd ground floor room has a bunker bed and an extra sofa bed. It also has the same amenities as the other rooms and is near the main entrance and the common ground floor bathroom.

By the entrance is the bunker room which has 4 bunker beds that can fit up to 8 people. This room has a direct exit and entrance to the house and is perfect for traveling groups of friends.

On the 2nd floor is the terrace room which has a queen sized bed and its own bathroom. It also has its own terrace so you can go out in the morning and inhale some fresh air.

Though guests can bring and cook their own food, The Lily offers cooking services by its caretaker, Grace. She is a really good cook and you must try her authentic Batangas Lomi. If you don’t want to stress out about getting groceries and cooking during your vacation at The Lily, you can send a menu upon reservation. Then you would just need to pay the market goods cost and additional 15% for the cook. This payment should be along with the down payment of the stay.

The latest addition to The Lily is its pool where you can have a quick dip under the stars at night or get a tan during the day.

The Lily is not a hotel, but the feeling of staying there is like home. It is more relaxed and because the caretakers are really friendly, you will feel like you are visiting your relatives in the province. The home is very beautiful that you just sitting there and doing nothing actually feels enjoyable and relaxing, far from what the busy city has to offer.

How to get to The Lily via private vehicle:

1. Take SLEX, exit Sta. Rosa (or any exit leading up to Tagaytay)
2. Pass Tagaytay, go straight til you see the Nasugbu arch. Go straight.
3. When you see a Jollibee at the junction, turn right.
4. Go straight til you reach Shell station on the left corner. Turn left.
5. Follow signs leading to Matabungkay Beach Resort.
6. Once you see a circular stone marker pointing to Matabungkay on the right (this is a small one so you might miss it if you’re driving too fast), turn right. That is already the main street to Matabungkay.
7.  Go straight, then before the dead end, you turn right.
8. Go straight, don’t mind the bends.  Turn left when you see the Tidewater Resort sign
9. Go straight past Tidewater. You will see the house on the left side (with signage: The Lily) before the basketball court. This is the house with a “kubo” shed right above the gate.

How to get to The Lily via Public Transport:

1. Go to Edsa Taft and look for the Van service to Nasugbu
2. Get Off at Binubusan or Matabungkay (Ask the driver to drop you off)
3. Ride a Tricycle to The Lily
