The Kingmaker

One of the most talked-about documentaries lately is The Kingmaker, which followed the political career of Imelda Marcos and her family’s effort to return to politics. It premiered at the 76th Venice Film Festival in August 2019, followed by a limited screening in the Philippines. Now, you can watch it from the comfort of your home because it will soon be available for free streaming on iWant.

iWant announced the news, saying “Don’t miss this chance to see the critically-acclaimed documentary from Emmy Award-winning director, Lauren Greenfield!”

It will be available for streaming starting May 15 on the iWant platform.

The documentary enjoyed several nominations at the London Film Festival, the Stockholm Film Festival, the Bergen International Film Festival, the Critic’s Choice Documentary Awards, and the Warsaw International Film Festival 2019.

The Kingmaker has a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the review, “The Kingmaker aims a disquieting spotlight at the private life of a divisive public figure — as well as the ways in which unchecked power seduces and corrupts.”
