With June being such a busy month for meโevents, work-related flights out of Manila, and weekly deliverables never seeming to endโI desperately needed some โme timeโ to recharge my energy and alleviate my stress. So when The Breathing Room reached out to have me try their elemental and sound bath session at their salt room, I was intrigued!
Iโm always on the lookout for new and unique experiences around Metro Manila that would help me get that well-deserved self-care. To be able to have it at the first salt therapy studio in the Philippines is amazing in itself, and the session I got to try was nothing short of incredible.
There were five of us in the group that Saturday morning that I went and all of us found our places in the salt room to position our yoga mats. Immediately, I was in a state of calmโthe salt room wasnโt as humid as I had expected, the lights were turned off except for the warm glow from the wall of marble bricks, and I could already sense the dry aerosol salt particles floating all around.
Then began our session. For 40 minutes, we lay prone on our mats while Sen, a certified yoga teacher, led us through a guided meditation with gentle therapeutics. Meanwhile, our sound bath master, Kimpoy, played calming sounds with his different singing bowls and instruments.
It was indeed one of the most restful experiences Iโve had in a long while. I felt the weight of my stress and anxieties disappear, leaving me with nothing but good vibes and the energy to get me through the rest of the day. I also found that I could breathe much easier afterward because of the salt particles. And as a testament to how relaxing the entire session was, the participant next to me started snoring halfway through!
All in all, I enjoyed my Salt Room guided meditation and sound bath at The Breathing Roomโand if you ever find yourself in need of a moment to pause, gather yourself, and breathe, I recommend you take the opportunity to try it out too!
You can check out the schedule for their meditation sessions at the Salt Room on their website or Instagram page. You can book a sitting session on your own or with friends, or a private group guided session.
The Breathing Room also offers other types of classes like yoga, barre, HIIT pilates, and pole fitness.
