Another good day to all Swifties out there! Taylor Swift is releasing a brand-new album, The Tortured Poets Department, this April 19!
The multi-hyphenate artist announced the exciting news on February 5 at the 2024 Grammy Awards as she bagged the Best Pop Vocal Album award for her tenth studio album, Midnights.
“I wanna say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand new album comes out on April 19. It’s called The Tortured Poets Department,” she said during her speech.
The “Anti-Hero” hitmaker immediately posted the album cover on her social media pages. It showed a black-and-white photo of her lying on a bed, including a handwritten note of what appeared to be lyrics.Â
In the caption, she wrote, “All’s fair in love and poetry… New album THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Out April 19.” [sic].
This will be her 11th studio album, following Midnights in 2022. Prior to this, the American pop star changed the color of her profile picture on all her social media pages to black-and-white. Fans anticipated the release of the “Taylor’s Version” of her sixth studio album, Reputation. But to everyone’s surprise, we’re getting a brand-new one instead!
“Taylor Swift” and “The Tortured Poets Department” trended on X. As of writing, further details have yet to be announced. Swift is set to hold her The Eras Tour this week in Japan.
