Taxi Modus Operandi Allegedly Have Police Accomplices
A netizen recently posted a story about a taxi modus operandi she and her sister has experienced. According to the post of Nahida Sahtout on Facebook, on January 20, the incident happened when she and sister took a taxi from Novaliches going to Las Piñas.

CHEMICAL SPRAY SA TAXI
It happened to me and to my sister kninang 2am in the morning.. January 20, 2015.Sumakay kami ng taxi sa novaliches going to laspinas.. Nagkekwentuhan lang kami ng ate ko sa taxi. Napansin ko na kumain ng candy ang taxi driver and inom ng inom sya ng tubig. Napansin namin ng ate ko na pagewang gewang ung taxi namin kaya tinanong niya ung driver “kuya inaantok ka ba?!” Sabi nung driver “oo maam nahihilo ako sa antok pwede ba nating ihinto sa gilid magpupunas lang ako ng basang towel sa mukha?” Napansin na namin ng ate ko na may kakaiba ng galaw ang driver at natataranta siya.. Madilim ung place kaya sabi ko sa 7eleven mo ihinto kuya pag may nakita tayo. Natataranta na ung taxi driver at lingon siya ng lingon samin. Kaya napansin na namin na may mali na.Kaya sabi ng ate ko kuya ibaba mo nalang kami sa gilid. After nun may naamoy na kami ng ate ko na chemical sobrang tapang kaya sumigaw ung ate ko ng buksan ko ung bintana at magtakip ng ilong. Nabuksan ng ate ko ung bintana niya dire diretso pa din ung driver. Kaya ang ginawa ko binuksan ko ung pintuan ko para mapansin ako ng mga tao at kung hindi man ako mapansin tatalon nalang kami ng ate ko. Hanggang sa napadaan kami sa madaming tao at sumigaw ako ng tulong habang nakabukas ung pinto and naandar ang taxi. Bumaba na kmi ng ate ko khit naandar pa ng konti..Nagstop din ung taxi driver at bumangga pa siya sa sidewalk..kaya npansin dn nung mga tao na nhhilo sya. Yung nafeel nmin ng ate super natuyo yung dila namin pati lalamunan at sobrang pait ng lasa.nkakasikip ng dibdib..Lumapit samin ung mga tao.nilapitan ng iba ung driver para hindi makatakbo. Kinwento namin yung nangyari sa mga tao then may isang lalaki na inamoy ung loob ng taxi.. Sinabi niyang may matapang nga na ibang amoy. Tumawag na yung babae sa mandaluyong police station. Ang tagal dumating ng pulis at nung dumating sila kinalkal nila yung taxi pero napaka saglit lang. Kinapkapan lang din ung driver. Sinasabi samin ng pulis na wala silang nakitang evidence so sinabi ko na nakabukas ung bintana ng driver nung nagsisisigaw na kami kaya naitapon na nya kung ano man yung naamoy namin.. Hanggang sa sinabi samin ng pulis na wala silang nakitang evidence sinabi nalang namin ng ate ko na iuwi nalang kami gusto na naming umuwi. Lumapit nadin ung driver samin at dinuro duro namin sya ng ate ko sa harap ng pulis sinabi namin mga ginawa niya tas hindi siya nakakasagot.Sinabi ng pulis na ihahatid nalang nila kami sa sakayan ng taxi. At pinaalis narin niya ung driver na may kalokohang ginawa. Habang nakasakay kami sa police patrol sinabi samin na baka pagod lang kami kaya ganon ung naramdaman namin at wala namang ebidensya at sa mga salita nila hindi sila naniniwala samin.Nakakalungkot lang bakit ganon yung action ng mga police na yun..Hindi ba enough yung statements namin? Waste of time lang kung gagawa kami ng story. Sinakay kami sa ibang taxi at nakausap namin yung driver na bago naming nasakyan kahit siya parang may iba daw syang naamoy at ubo sya ng ubo ksi prang may naiwan daw na amoy samin ng ate ko. Dagdag pa ng driver na bagong nasakyan namin, Yang mga driver na modus na yan kaya sa part na ng mandaluyong niya ginawa yun dahil may kapit na ung driver na yun sa mandaluyong police station.. Kasabwat din nila ang mga pulis kaya ipapalabas na walang evidence. At kung may mabiktima man mkkipag share ang pulis sa driver kung ano man ang mga nakuha nito. Sobrang nakakalungkot ang aksyon ng mga pulis dito sa pilipinas. Kala namin ng ate ko pagkadating ng mga pulis feel safe na kami at mananagot ang driver sa ginawa niya pero hindi yun ang nangyari. Pumanig p ung dalawang pulis sa driver. Nakakadisappoint talaga dito sa pilipinas. Thankful kami ng ate ko ksi napanood na namin sa news ung ganung incident and sinabing buksan ang bintana at magtakip ng ilong pag may kakaibang naamoy. Kung hindi namin yun alam baka ipagsawalang bahala nlng namin at nahimatay na kami sa tapang ng amoy. just wanted to share this incident para sa iba na nasakay ng taxi.Kahit kami ng ate ko hindi makapaniwala na totoo pala ung ganitong modus ng taxi.. It happened to me and my sister around 2AM in the morning of January 20, 2015. We took a taxi from Novaliches going to Las Piñas.
Me and my sister were just chatting inside the taxi when I observed that the driver was eating candy and relentlessly drinking water. We observed that our taxi was also swerving from time to time so I asked the driver, “Are you sleepy?”
The driver said yes and he asked if he can stop on the side for a while to wipe his face with wet towel. We noticed that the driver was a bit uneasy and was acting strange so we became a little suspicious.
The area was dark so I told the driver to just stop at a nearby 7-Eleven if we pass by one. Still acting strange, the driver was continuously checking on us. That’s when we noticed that there might be something wrong. After that, we noticed a chemical odor so my sister told me to open the window and cover my nose. My sister was able to open her window while taxi is still continuously moving.
When we passed by a crowded area, I opened my door and called for help. In case no one noticed us, I was already ready to jump out of the taxi. In the crowded area, a few bystanders noticed us.
As the taxi slowed down, we took this opportunity to quickly alight from the vehicle. Then, the taxi halted and hit the sidewalk. Even the bystanders noticed that the driver was a bit dizzy.
Me and my sister felt that our throats were too dry and there was a bitter taste. It was also a bit hard to breathe and it felt like our chests were too tight.
Some of the bystanders helped us. They also came near the driver so he can’t run. One of them also even took the initiative of calling the Mandaluyong police, since we were around that area.Â
It took a long time for the police to arrive and when they were on the scene, they just quickly inspected the vehicle and the driver. Then, the police said that they weren’t able to find any evidences. We said that the taxi has been open for quite a while so it was possible that the driver already threw whatever it was that they can smell.
We just wanted to go home so we agreed when the police said they will just help us get another taxi home.
While on the patrol car, we were told that maybe we were just tired so we reacted that way. The police escorted us to get a new taxi. The driver of the taxi we rode was also released.Â
The action done by the police who arrived at the scene was disappointing. Are our statements not enough? It’s a waste of time if we just made up a story.
On the new taxi that we took, the driver told us that it seems like there was really a chemical spray from the previous taxi that they rode. The driver said there was a strong odor coming from us that caused him to cough. It seems some residue was left on us. The driver told us that such modus operandi is done in that area because some of the taxi drivers that do that modus already have some police officers from Mandaluyong as accomplices.
It’s just said that there are police like that in the Philippines.
However, we are thankful that we were able to see that news that if something like that happens, cover your nose and open the windows. Otherwise, we would have just shrugged it off and maybe we would have passed out.
Just wanted to share this incident so that others will also be cautious.
