Urban Fringe Salon: Perfect For Any Hairstyle or Hair Care Concerns

I got a pixie cut last April. Now that it’s in its growing-out phase, with some parts flying away as my hair reaches the lower part of my neck, I’ve been thinking about whether I should get another cut or make the phase less boring and less awkward while waiting for it to grow out.

Since it’s been almost a year since I had my hair dyed, I simply chose to get my hair dyed again instead of getting a haircut. I went to Urban Fringe Salon at Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City with my fellow WhenInManila writer Jo to try out their hair colouring services.

The place is easy to find as it’s just along Tomas Morato Avenue near a cafe called afters. We went there on a weekday afternoon so it wouldn’t be too packed. According to Mr. Jun Almencion, the store manager, and one of the two senior hairstylists of Urban Fringe Salon; their peak days are during the weekends.

Generally speaking, the place is not too big, but it does not feel jammed, either.

It looks clean, too, with their white and brown motif. It’s well ventilated and it doesn’t smell like hair chemicals. They have big mirrors and comfy chairs. They also offer free coffee or iced tea to their customers while they wait, and that is really a big plus for me.

I chose No. 7, 3 of Davines Hair Color: medium blonde.

Mr. Jun recommended to put highlights on my hair, too, so that it wouldn’t just be plain brown. I like that he suggested that because I really had no idea what to do with my hair. Plus, he’s a hair expert (he’s been working as a hairstylist for 10 years now), so I just put my faith and trust in him.

As I waited for my hair to get washed, I also got an express back massage! I fell asleep for a few minutes. Meanwhile, Jo wanted to get her roots colored. Ms. Rowena Cariño, senior hairstylist, also shaped her hair through a layered haircut. Jo’s hair is slightly wavy, by the way.
