In the words of Charisse Del Vilar, “during these times (the pandemic), when you crave some, you make some.”
And that was how Mochi Munch PH was born. A working Fraud Prevention Analyst, Charisse is the owner of Mochi Munch—a single parent of five kids, and a food enthusiast. She enjoys spending time in the kitchen whipping delicious meals for her family and kids, and making mochi is just one of the many things in her repertoire.

The story started when she was searching for a mochi seller nearby to satisfy her cravings. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find anyone, so she ended up making her own. She then shared her homemade creations with family and friends, who in turn, encouraged her to turn it into a small business.
She then took the advice and jump-started what is now known as Mochi Munch, then the rest was history. Her mochi flavors were given a lot of positive feedback from customers and well-known food influencers like @nanayange831, Lea Domingo (IG: @mommylelei), Kevin Garcia (IG: @eatsasmallworldph), Rizza Yenko (IG: @eliskitchen_ph), and more.
Team Filled Mochi or Team Flavored Mochi?
Beyond using authentic ingredients like mochiko flour (East Asian glutinous rice), what sets Mochi Munch’s mochi apart from everyone else is in the filling. Charisse uses Japanese favorites like adzuki but switches things up with modern and local flavors like dark chocolate, ube, ube and cheese, and more. These, paired with delicately stretchy of soft mochi, make for a delicious treat. Customers can enjoy these assorted filled mochis in 12, 15, or 18-piece increments with their choice of flavors. A box is priced at PHP 190, PHP 220, and PHP 260, respectively.

To this day, Charisse is constantly exploring different flavors. Aside from filled mochi, Mochi Munch now offers flavored mochi — matcha, coffee, or signature pink flavors — served with yummy Nutella dip! And yes, this box is sold for only PHP 120!
