The common lounge area also offers a view of the Taal, and exhibits art pieces by local artists and designers.

Domicillo stays true to its designer hotel core by turning each and every spare corner into an art space. Art exhibits are constantly on rotation in their common room, which also features capiz shell-framed mirrors and furniture by Mr. Alcala himself. Various jewelry, home items and showpieces are also on display at Domicillo’s home store located at the reception area.

Dining

Domicillo has two restaurants, Aozora and La Finca. Aozora is Domicillo’s rooftop cafe/bistro and offers classic Japanese favorites along with an impressive sake and Japanese coffee selection. La Finca, on the other hand, serves traditional Filipino fare. Both restaurants offer complimentary breakfast options for guests. I personally love Japanese food, so I practically spent most of my time at Aozora. Absolutely loved everything I tried, especially their Tempura Soba, Katsudon bowl and Tuna + Avocado salad.

Overall Experience

My stay at Domicillo was definitely one of the best Tagaytay experiences I’ve had. Waking up to the sun rising over the Taal was definitely the highlight of my trip. I’ve seen the Taal dozens of times, but seeing it this way, surrounded by cascading greenery and bordered by an endless stretch of blue sky, had me admiring this all-time favorite in a brand new light. I honestly had everything I needed in my room, so I naturally ended up spending most of my time there. And the few times I did venture outside, I was greeted by Domicillo’s kind and approachable staff. Everyone from the front desk to the restaurants greeted me with a smile and were prompt to address my concerns.

I would definitely recommend Domicillo for those looking for a quick and worthwhile escape from crazy Manila, yet are looking for something other than the usual out-of-town experience.
