Tabang Tambayan came to fruition between The Silver Lining Project, Primarch Entertainment, SparkMyIdeas and individual volunteers, Kamilla Sumagui and Bryan Favorito as a spontaneous response to the damage caused by Typhoon Yolanda.
With the help of its supporters, Tabang Tambayan has created a series of activities with Yolanda survivors’ rescue and rehabilitation as its end goal. It puts special focus on hard to reach areas where help is scarce, such as Busuanga in Palawan for example.
In December 14, Tabang Tambayan set off its concert series with a Christmas benefit gig featuring bands Trinidad, Lantern Syrup, Giallo, Kinaiya, Wilderness, Siglo, O’Eight, Imago, Sigwada Experimental, Jumil Makaluma and Team Vibe. 100% of ticket sales and in-kind donations from guests went to project AirJuan’s Pamasko ni Juan campaign, a Christmas gift-giving drive for residents of Coron, Palawan happening on the last week of December 2013, in cooperation with the Northern Palawan district of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary. AirJuan https://www.facebook.com/AirJuanAidDrop is a volunteer-led disaster rescue and rehabilitation group that has made the rounds bringing critical aid to islands in the Visayas affected by Yolanda, made possible thru air drops, as well as other alternative land and sea transport. Its field team of rescue professionals have had extensive exposure in the area of calamity assistance. AirJuan’s vision is to be a consistent source of service for disasters that will happen over time.
AirJuan will deploy Family Christmas bags along with MommyProjects’ Hope Kits: MommyProjects’ Hope Kits (canvas bags containing baby pillows, hairpieces for moms, anti-bug bands for kids, a tagalog Bible, a devotional, a journal, bottled water, and a basic med kit).
AirJuan will also spread Christmas cheer under the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary’s (PCGA) Adopt-to-Rebuild project. The PCGA, under the Philippine Coast Guard, is the oldest and only humanitarian armed services of the Philippines. Lieutenant Senior Grade Tupas of PCGA, has begun by adopting the communities in Coron, Palawan. These locations shall also beneficiaries under the AirJuan Pamasko ni Juan project.
This is only the beginning, as Tabang Tambayan will hold a full calendar of benefit activities in 2014. The collective welcomes suggestions and partnership proposals and invites potential collaborators to reach them via their Facebook page https://facebook.com/TabangTambayan or thru emaill address firstname.lastname@example.org.
