Sumo Sam’s New Picks For The Year: A Fresh Start

Sumo Sam

(Buta Kakuni)

Buta Kakuni refers to Japanese roast pork simmered in spicy sauce for 4 hours before being deep fried. The result is a perfect crunch on the outside, but tender and moist on the inside. It also has that perfect spicy flavor that gives just the right accent to this dish.

Sumo Sam

(Yakitori Sampler)

The Yakitori Sampler involves grilled chicken, beef and pork meat seasoned with sea salt with satopen, teriyaki and sasesame tobanjan sauces.

Sumo Sam

(Tuna Tacos)

Who would’ve thought that you’ll see tacos on a Japanese menu? At Sumo Sam, that is a definite. The Tuna Tacos consist of fresh tuna loin with spicy, wasabi-infused sauce. They are usually served with salsa.

Sumo Sam

(Ebi Kakiage Tendon)

For the tendon, Sumo Sam has 2 kinds to offer: Ebi Kakiage Tendon and Soft Shell Tendon. Ebi Kakiage Tendon is shrimp tempura served on top of a rice bowl with misou soup and vegetable siding.

Sumo Sam

(Soft Shell Tendon)

The Soft Shell Tendon is Sumo Sam’s offering for more adventurous tendon lovers. The topping is tempura made of soft shell crab and served with misou soup and it is served with a side of vegetables.

Of course, the meal won’t be complete without a lovely dessert. Lovely they are Sumo Sam style. Let’s start with the Japanese Pancake Dorayaki, the Yakinori and Matcha Crepe, and the Tempura Banana Split.

Sumo Sam

(Japanese Pancake Dorayaki)

The Japanese Pancake Dorayaki is a set of bite-size mini hotcakes with layers of pistachio, peanut butter and Nutella drizzled with strawberry puree.

Sumo Sam

(Tempura Banana Split)

The Tempura Banana Split, on the other hand, is a new way of presenting bananas with a crunch paired with 3 flavors of ice cream (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate).

Sumo Sam

(Yakitori and Matcha Crepe)

Last to complete the dessert corner is the Yakitori and Matcha Crepe. It is similar to that of an omelette except it is filled with crème and paired with strawberries and bananas.
