Caps have long been a much-loved fashion accessory in the Philippines. In fact, it would be safe to say that everyone has at least one cap in their closet to wear during bad hair days or even just when the sun is out. While there are many stores out there that sell caps, though, this is the first time I have come across a store that showcases true blue Pinoy pride. Meet Street Style Originals.
Street Style Originals is a local urban brand that showcases the Philippines and Filipino roots through its urban apparel with hopes of providing a bit of education in each piece.
This gray cap has the baybayin (incorrectly known as alibata) word of ‘KA’ on it and the cap itself is called the KA ‘Unity’ because it symbolizes the Unity of the Filipino.
This cap is called the Manila Filipinas and the word ‘Filipinas’ is written on it in baybayin, as well. The fabric used on the cap is acrylic wool and metallic gold thread is used for the art.
The best part about the caps of Street Style Originals, though, is their underbrim art. Check out this one, which features various Filipino heroes, namely Rajah Sulayman, Lapu-Lapu, Andres Bonifacio and Jose Rizal:
This one’s cool, too. It features the iconic Manila clock tower on the right panel of the cap and a reflectorized Rizal Monument on the underbrim:
Pretty cool, huh? Now you can stay cool and fashionable while wearing a piece of proud-to-be-Pinoy art wherever you go.
