“Ideas are just dreams without execution” (Author Unknown) Let your IDEA today be tomorrow’s reality. Make it happen with Startup Weekend Quezon City!

Uber, Airbnb, Alibaba. These are some companies we see who have been successful in revolutionizing the different industries globally. We see the scene in the Philippines slowly following it. We have witnessed changes in doing business and different perspectives in running them, such as creating creating platforms for houses to rent in, and having e-commerce websites. There has been a lot of evolution in entrepreneurship and the world and the opportunities in it suddenly became limitless.

And this is what Startup Weekend is all about. In Startup Weekend, our definition of an “Entrepreneur” is someone who takes ideas into action. And Startup Weekend paves the way to make your own startup idea to succeed! No more hesitations, no more doubts, no more endless thinking, only ACTION, EXPERIENCE, and EXECUTION!

Startup Weekend is a 54-hour event where developers, designers and business development folks come together to pitch an idea and launch a business, all in one weekend.  It is a great opportunity to test startup ideas, meet potential co-founders, build your community and get started with your next startup! Startup Weekend puts people right away in an entrepreneur’s shoes, and experience how it is to polish your ideas, and turn it into action.

Being backed by Google itself, Startup Weekend is a global brand happening in over 150 countries to date. And simultaneously, it has been reaching different startup communities all over the Philippines such as in IloIlo, Cebu, Bohol, Laguna, Bataan, even in Manila itself. And now, it has arrived in Quezon City- in Ateneo de Manila University.

The young organizers for this event aim to expose and bring awareness to the young ones, and those who have been thinking about starting their very own startup. It’s also great for those curious about what the startup culture is and how to do business the lean startup way. They want to remind people that in today’s age, it isn’t only the traditional types of businesses that one can do- but a lot more, so long as you’re willing to get working.  The dream is to grow a strong community of startup entrepreneurs in Quezon City, in Metro Manila or perhaps, even the whole Philippines, and the someday, the Philippines can be home to bigger, internationally-recognized startups.

The event will feature some of the big names in the local scene:

Speakers: Christian San Jose of Create.PH, Howard Go of MochiBits, Manny Nepomuceno of Mobile Mondays Manila, and Seedbox, John Paul Alcala of Ayannah Information Solutions, Inc.

Alex Alabiso, Head of Portfolio Development of Kickstart Ventures, Inc.

Ibrahim “Ibba” Bernardo, Founder of several companies such as E-motion Animation and Moanima and Sari Software Solutions.

Nix Nolledo, CEO of Xurpas
