Spread the Love for All Things Sweet with these Gourmet Spreads

One of my favorite childhood snacks is pandesal filled with butter and sugar. It’s something I’d often enjoy for merienda. Eventually, my palate evolved, and butter and sugar were replaced by peanut butter and jelly. To keep up with food trends, I even got into Nutella and cookie butter.

Bread and spreads, you see, are a real treat. They’re easy to prepare, indulgent, and tasty with minimal effort. The result is a handheld snack that you can carry around. Plus, this is something that you can make even on late nights. Best of all, there is no heating needed (unless, of course, you want your bread toasty warm).

For those who like their bread and spreads just as much as I do, I have good news. I found someone with a delicious selection of gourmet spreads. Once you’ve tried them out, you’ll want to spread the love. Pun intended.

Chef Mai’s selection of spreads is made with locally-sourced ingredients in the hopes of showcasing the best of what the country has to offer. In line with her Love Local advocacy, Spread the Love Gourmet Spreads also provide a livelihood and stable income for both local farmers and employees, which is especially helpful during these hard times.

Available Flavors

These all-natural, preservative-free spreads come in two flavors: Dulce de Leche and Peanut Butter. Each category also has different variations, making a grand total of five flavors: Original, Chocolate and Buko Pandan for the Dulce de Leche series, and Classic Peanut Butter or a sugar-free keto version of peanut butter.

Dulce de Leche in Chocolate, Buko Pandan, and Original

Dulce de Leche Chocolate (300 ml, Php180)

When paired together, dulce de leche and chocolate may sound intimidating. Contrary to what you might think, though, this spread isn’t sickeningly sweet. Yes, it’s decadent and rich and yes, it has undertones of creamy yema. But think of it as a chocolate-covered caramel bite— one that isn’t too sweet and is delightfully gooey and luscious all the same. This one’s perfect for the chocolate lovers out there!

Dulce de Leche Buko Pandan (300 ml, Php180)

Upon closer inspection, this variant has a subtle green color. Taste-wise, you get strong flavors of coconut that meld with the caramelly sweetness of dulce de leche. This, together with the aroma of pandan and subtle vanilla-like flavor, make it a quirky combination that simply works. It’s a real treat for those who want a different kind of pasalubong to bring back.

Dulce de Leche Original (300 ml, Php180)

A classic no-frills caramel spread and Chef Mai’s bestseller, the Dulce de Leche Spread of Spread the Love Gourmet Spreads is not overwhelmingly sweet like most dulce de leche desserts. So rest easy—  your throat won’t hurt after this. While it does have that characteristic yema taste, it’s a more sophisticated version that both kids and adults will enjoy.

Creamy Peanut Butter and Sugar-free Keto Peanut Butter

Creamy Peanut Butter (300 ml, Php180)

For those who like their peanut butter smooth, this creamy peanut butter blend is for you. It’s nutty and rich with a strong roasted taste. The consistency is smooth and velvety. Although it is creamy, it isn’t drying. Plus, the level of sweetness is just right, making it perfect with jelly or even on its own.

Sugar-Free Keto Peanut Butter (300 ml, Php250)

Who says healthy tastes bad? Spread the Love’s gourmet spread is here to prove you wrong. This version is a sugar-free ketogenic alternative for health-conscious people or those on a special diet. Even so, it’s still the same yummy and creamy peanut butter that we know and love. You can adjust the amount of sweetness by adding your choice of honey or Stevia.
