Seeing any business through a pandemic is a feat in and of itself, but to have it thrive and become an avenue for connection at a time when no one knows whatโs going to happen next? Not everyone can say that. Kumu began in 2018 as a way to connect Filipinos from around the world and help them find their common groundโa digital tambayan, if you willโbut grew into something much, much larger than any of the founders could have anticipated.
4th year celebration
Now in its fourth year, the social entertainment app that took millions of smartphones, tablets, and other devices by storm is set to mark the occasion with a bangโonly fitting, after over two years of establishing and growing communities almost solely via the internet. On September 2 at the Samsung Hall in SM Aura Premier, in partnership with Globe and Sunsilk, Kumu will be gathering 1,000 guestsโmostly made up of the most highly engaged (and engaging!) users and streamersโalong with some serious talents that got their start or reached new heights through the app.
From P-POP groups to Power Streamers
Super groups BINI, BGYO, VXON, KAIA, CALISTA, and Press Hit Play are just some of the names attendees can expect to grace the stage, as well as solo acts like FANA, Anton Diva, Kimpoy Feliciano, Vinz Tiu, Christian Bahaya, Alyssa Quijano, JM Bales, and Samantha Bernardoโjust to name a few. There will also be a special performance of the Top Class winners, from the recently concluded reality competition hosted by Catriona Gray. See full line-up below:
โThis is obviously really exciting for us as a company, but really, itโs a celebration of what weโve all built together,โ says James Rumohr, Co-founder and Chief of Staff of Kumu. โAnd I really mean all of usโfrom Roland [Ros, our CEO] to whoever has just downloaded the app as we speak. Four years isnโt a long time for something to grow the way this has, but here we are. And we owe it to the community as much as we do to the team, because theyโre the ones putting themselves out there and creating their tribes, building these bridges, showing us who they are. Our job is to make it better, safer all the time, but thereโs no point without the Kumu-nity. So this is their celebration as much as it is ours.โ
