The creator of the long-running series, Takehiko Inoue, dropped the news on Twitter where he showed a page from a magazine announcing the new material that’s coming soon.

The new edition is titled “PLUS/SLAM DUNK ILLUSTRATIONS 2” which will include over 130 illustrations that were drawn in the past and used for other publications. There will also be 11 new illustrations specially created for this compilation with the goal of reigniting interest that fans once had for the original manga.

Slam Dunk was serialized in 1990 to 1996 in Weekly Shonen Jump before being collected into 31 volumes. It was then adapted into anime which was broadcast worldwide. The anime consisted of 101 episodes.

Slam Dunk is still known for being one of the best-selling manga series of all time and one of three pioneering sports-centered stories in the 90s.
