Simple Island Life and Marine Diversity in Tablas Island, Romblon

Before proceeding to other activities, we had some Italian dish for lunch in the resort. This pasta and meatballs were also cooked by Chiara. She even made the pasta noodles herself!

She also treated us with some homemade ice cream. With the absence of some special chemicals, the homemade ice cream melts easy. But the creaminess and the rich flavor will have you finishing the whole serving even before it melts!

After lunch, we visited a protected marine area in the middle of the bay, the Looc Marine Sanctuary. On the way to the sanctuary, you can see amazing views like this. Kinda resembles Palawan, huh?

This sanctuary resembles a big cottage located with thousands of fish swimming around it! In the middle of the cottage there is an open portion of the floor that will let you see and feed the fish from inside the cottage. You can also swim and snorkel around the area of the sanctuary. You will literally be swimming with the fish because they are everywhere! You can just take a peek with some goggles on and see fish swimming around you. Oh, it was quite an experience!

On the boat ride going back to the resort, we were able to catch this breathtaking view of the sunset from the boat.

By the way, the island is only an hour long boat ride away from Boracay. So if you’re staying in Boracay, you can go for a quick side trip to Tablas to enjoy some diving and snorkeling activities with their rich underwater life. Just contact the resort for reservations.

We left the resort early the next day. We wanted to see the green side of the island on our way back to Odiongan port. From Looc plaza, we rented a motorcycle ride instead of waiting an hour for a jeepney ride. We were able to see the simple provincial life there during our ride going to the port. There were hardly any vehicles on the way; only lovely views of trees and land fields.

During the cruise back to Batangas, I was able to catch this majestic view of the sky. I left Tablas with a heart filled with new experiences. I realized new things about traveling. Going to a famous tourist spot is one thing. Visiting remote places is another. Sure, there are reasons why tourist spots are famous, but you would also have to endure long lines, crowded places, expensive stops, etc. Meanwhile, you can also try visiting these secluded places which have also things worth being proud of without the fuss, no crowds, and more for the eyes and the heart.
