Sandaya Yakiniku: Light Up the Grill and Enjoy a Different Japanese Foodie Experience

Sandaya Yakiniku

“Simula nung nag-Sandaya ako, wala na akong ibang gustong kainan kundi Sandaya..” These are the words of owner Avin Ong, and when we sampled their Yakiniku and the other items on the menu, we found out why. He taught us the proper way of cooking their bestseller, Yakiniku. Once he lit up the grill, the fantastic part began!

Since the meat is sliced into thin pieces, it has to be flipped over several times before being placed into the plate (or straight to the mouth if you want!). For first-timers, their staff will be more than willing to assist you on doing it properly! They want to make sure that you fully experience the precise manner of enjoying Yakiniku. Their yakiniku is marinated in special sauces, so you can really distinguish the unique Sandaya taste.

They have different Yakiniku sets to choose from, as well, which range from Php1,000-Php3,800 – good for up to 5 persons. They also have single servings, so you can have Yakiniku for as low as Php200!

Avin mixing the Sandaya sauce

We devoured an assortment of their meats, best eaten with their mixed sweet and spicy Sandaya sauce: US Kalbi Eye, Japanese Karubi, US Chikai, Pork Belly in Miso Sauce, Japanese Origin Kobe style premium sirloin and Australian Wagyu Beef Brisket. It may a mingling of diverse meat textures, but it surely is one delicious assemble.

Sandaya Special Green Salad (Php250)

For a refreshment in-between, we tried their Sandaya Special Green Salad. I liked the fusion of the veggies and mango and its dressing provides a light feeling.

Boiled Fresh Soybean (Php120)

The Edamame, or the Boiled Fresh Soybean is also a good munchie. I found myself nibbling on them non-stop until there was no more. The nimble of saltiness is just right for a midway snack.

Uni Yakiniku

For those with adventurous tastes, don’t miss out on their US Beef Special Tongue and Uni Yakiniku. Don’t be intimidated by them; they are really good.

Tonkatsu Ramen (Php350)

Even though our tummies were already full, we still had to try their bestselling ramen, the Tonkatsu Ramen. The pork strips are tender, the broth is tasty and everything in that bowl simply goes together well.

They also offer lunch sets (Php485) that consist of salad, miso soup, and your choice of kimchi, rice/noodles or lunch plates.

Sandaya Yakiniku is definitely the place to satisfy your Japanese food cravings. As we left the place, their bright and cheerful farewell was complemented with flashes of big smiles and 90-degree bows. Domo arigato gozaimashita!
