San Miguel Corp Chairman and CEO passes away at 85

San Miguel Corporation Chairman and CEO Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco has passed away yesterday, June 16. He was 85.

The business tycoon has succumbed to pneumonia and heart failure before 11 PM on Tuesday at the St. Luke’s Medical Center, according to The Manila Bulletin.

His passing was confirmed by San Miguel Corporation President Ramon Ang in a report by Bloomberg on Wednesday morning.

Cojuangco was last spotted in June as he headed the annual stockholders’ meeting of SMC oil subsidiary Petron Corporation.

Also known as “Boss Danding,” he founded the political party Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) in 1992, and ran against Fidel V. Ramos in the presidential race in the same year.

In 2019, Cojuangco is the 16th richest man in the Philippines with a net worth of $1.4 billion, according to Forbes.
