Ryza Cenon expressed her shock and frustration over receiving her latest water bill that was charging her close to PHP 121,000. Ryza compared the September bill to the bill she received in August, where she was only charged over Php 1,000. According to her, she shouldn’t be charged this high considering that her house experiences water interruptions daily from 10 PM to 4 AM, followed by a low water supply throughout the day.
“Ano kami, may carwash? 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. nawawala na ng water samin. Tapos ang hina-hina ng tubig namin from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m,” she wrote on her Facebook post. “So paki-explain Maynilad Water Services, Inc., from [PHP] 1,101.02 last month ngayon [naging PHP] 120k?”
[“Does it look like we own a carwash business? There’s no water at our house from 10 PM to 4 AM. And then, we experience a low water supply from 5 AM to 9 PM. So please explain, Maynilad Water Services, Inc., why we were charged from PHP 1,101.02 last month to PHP 120K now?”]
Maynilad then gave a canned response in the comments section a day after her post.
“Hi Ryza. Salamat sa inyong pakikipag-ugnayan sa amin upang macheck ang inyong account. Patuloy na makikipag-coordinate ang aming Zone personnel sa inyo ukol dito,” the message read.
Many netizens then shared their own stories about being charged high amounts on their water bill while others expressed similar shock over the post. Meanwhile, there are those who gave suggestions on what Ryza should do to check if there is a water leak around her house to explain the six-figure bill.
