You can ask the staff at The Royal Piccadilly to prepare the tea for you, but of course it looks more impressive if you do it yourself! After choosing the tea, you want determine whether it’s black, green or white because each kind has a different brewing time.Â
Â
This Twinings tea timer says 4 mins for Black tea, 3 mins for Green tea and 2 mins for White tea.
Â
Unlike what our moms usually do, DO NOT keep the tea bag and use it for another round.Â
Â
You should  squeeze the tea bag with the string and set it aside. Pour the tea. Add milk and/or sugar or serve it as is.
Â
Tea ceremonies are not about the food, but more on the conversations that happen during the “event”. It’s the rare kind of social event where food is not the star of the party, so it’s not proper to gulp down the tea in one go or put a lot of food on your plate. HOWEVER, since we’re in the Philippines and we LOVE food, we might as well bask in the glory of this sandwich. This is The Royal Piccadilly ‘s coronation sandwich.
Â
It’s the lovely marriage of mango jam, lettuce and curry-seasoned chicken.Â
Â
The Royal Piccadilly  has been praised for their scones. Scones are eaten with a dollop of butter and jam but this tastes perfectly good on its own.Â
Â
The scones naturally don’t look pretty but they’re moist and  hella delicious!
Â
Aside from the Piccadilly Circus Set, we also tasted their Marjolaine cake and Strawberry Shortcake. The Marjolaine cake’s a killer and the dark chocolate was divine. However, I’m more of a vanilla/fruit-flavored kind of cake girl so Strawberry shortcake was the one for me.Â
Â
The Royal Piccadilly has many cakes to offer. I suggest you also check-out their rainbow cake.
Â
So that ends the Afternoon tea but I also got a sneak peek (taste) of The Royal Piccadilly ‘s newest concoctions: Iced Tea!Â
Â
This ain’t your typical sugar heavy iced tea mix.
Â
Aside from the fact that they’re served in mason jars, I loved them even more because they’re Twinings! <3 . My favorite is the Apple, Cinnamon and Raisin iced tea because it’s not too sweet and has the right amount of fruity flavor and cinnamon taste that I love. For a citrusy-lemon taste that best complements the sweets, try the Green tea and Lemon tea. If you’re eating main dishes, the sweet Four Red Fruits iced tea would be perfect for you.Â
Â
They’re a bit pricey, but it’s legitimate so it’s worth your money. 🙂Â
Â
I also ordered buffalo wings to balance out the sweet taste from the cakes and puffins. The spicy taste of the wings are from different kinds of hot sauces. Paired with their bleu cheese dip, it’s a sure hit!
Â
Buffalo Chicken wings 295 Php.
So that sums up my first ever afternoon tea experience from The Royal Piccadilly. Since this is really close to my school, though, I think I’ll spend the rest of my college days here with my girlies. Come and join me? 🙂
