According to a CNN report, the incident happened last Thursday, May 28 when the monkeys attacked a lab assistant working with the COVID-19 facility was carrying blood samples due for testing. The monkeys stole the assistant’s sample box that had fresh samples of people suspected to have COVID-19.

One of the monkeys was later spotted on top of a tree chewing on one of the blood samples. The monkeys threw the chewed up samples to the ground, which alarmed some people as the incident happened. It is unclear, however, if the monkeys contracted the virus after chewing the blood samples.
