We spent the past week actually using the POCO F9 Pro as a daily driver, not just running it through a quick 20-minute demo. We really placed it to the test with gaming sessions that ran way past midnight, a food crawl in QC, back-to-back client calls, the works. No lab setting, no controlled environment. Just a phone getting shoved into an actual, messy schedule to see if it holds up.

Okay, the color first
First impressions
Our unit came in White, and the build itself did more of the talking than we expected, glass back, metal frame, a flat camera deco with a bit of texture instead of the usual slab sticking out. At 8.79mm thick and 206g, it doesn’t feel like a phone that’s padded out to fit a bigger battery, which, spoiler, it kind of is. IP68 water and dust resistance also meant we stopped being precious about it near rainy jeepney stops and the occasional spilled iced coffee. If you’re after more personality in the color, POCO also has it in Aurora Green, a full-panel luminous finish that shifts under light, and in Black for anyone who’d rather stay under the radar.
The screen
We didn’t think we’d care this much about a display spec, but here we are. It’s a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel that runs up to 185Hz, and once you’ve scrolled on that for a few days, going back to a regular phone feels like it’s lagging even when it isn’t. Group chats, food photos, whatever it just moves smoother than it has any right to.

It also gets stupidly bright outdoors, which matters more in Manila than almost any other spec on this list. We’re talking up to 2200 nits in high-brightness mode and up to 4500 nits at 25% APL, so no more cupping your hand over the screen at noon trying to read a text. Add Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 68 billion colors on top, and yeah, your photo dumps and your Netflix queue both look a little better than they used to.

If you’re the “one more round” type
This one’s for the gamers in the group chat who conveniently go offline at 1am and reappear online at 1:15am. Under the hood is the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5, V Series, SM8850-1-AB, if you’re the type who reads the fine print), built on a third-gen 3nm process with a 2+6 all-big-core CPU setup and a third-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, clocking up to 4.6GHz. In practice that means apps snap open, nothing chugs when you’ve got ten tabs and a game running, and the phone doesn’t turn into a hand warmer twenty minutes into a match.
Sitting next to it is the VisionBoost D8 dedicated graphics chipset, working with POCO’s WildBoost Engine to push frame rates up to 185FPS in select games, with a handful of others topping out at 165FPS. You also get 1.5K super resolution, Game HDR, and dual-core visual enhancement for sharper detail mid-fight. Touch response is 480Hz, up to 4800Hz in instant touch sampling mode, so taps land the moment you make them — which matters a lot more than it sounds like when you’ve blamed a lost round on “lag” one too many times.
There are also seven dedicated gaming antennas built into the phone specifically so your signal doesn’t drop the second you flip it sideways. It’s a small, unglamorous detail that you only notice by not noticing it.
Battery that stopped us from checking the percentage
This is the part that actually won people over. The 6330mAh (typ) silicon-carbon battery got us through full, chaotic days, morning emails, an afternoon shoot, gaming or a show at night, without the usual 4:00 PM scramble for an outlet.
And when it does dip low, it doesn’t waste time. 100W wired HyperCharge gets you back up fast, or you can go 50W wireless if you’d rather not deal with a cable. There’s reverse charging too, up to 27W wired and 22.5W wireless, so it can top off a friend’s dying phone or your earbuds in a pinch. One of us used this exact feature to save a friend’s phone at 3% during dinner and became, briefly, a hero.
The camera situation
If your phone doubles as your content team, pay attention here. The main camera is 200MP with OIS, and the optical stabilization actually shows in the shots — less blur when you’re walking and filming, steadier footage at night, fewer “let me retake that” moments.

There’s also a 50MP 2.5x floating telephoto camera, also with OIS, which gives real optical zoom instead of the usual blurry digital crop. It’s the lens that makes a food shot from across the table or a candid from the other side of the room actually look intentional.
POCO also packed in a few shooting modes worth knowing about: Live Cinematography for 4K Ultra-HD Live Moments, Portrait Live and Freestyle Live for that slow zoom-out effect people love on Reels, and an AI Creativity Assistant that handles image enhancement, beautify, and reflection removal on the spot. Less time in an editing app, more time actually posting.
Sound that doesn’t make you reach for earphones out of pity
Phone speakers are usually the thing you apologize for. Not really the case here — the F9 Pro comes with Sound by Bose tuning, using 15-level graded calibration across low, mid, and high frequencies so it doesn’t go tinny once you turn the volume up. Paired with symmetrical stereo speakers (dual super-linear 1115F units in a top-firing layout), music and video actually sound full coming straight off the phone. A few of us skipped earphones on the commute this week, which almost never happens.
So is it worth it?
After a week of actually using the POCO F9 Pro and not just a quick unboxing, but an actual daily-driver week it earned the attention it’s been getting. It plays well, it charges fast enough that battery anxiety stopped being a thing, the cameras hold their own, and it looks good enough that people keep asking about it unprompted. That last part matters more than spec sheets usually let on.
