Puerto Princesa to Host 2026 UN SDGs Youth Convergence

The UN SDGs Youth Convergence is a four-day gathering in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, that seeks to strengthen Filipino youth leadership in advancing sustainable development. Through collaboration, capacity-building, and the co-creation of innovative and actionable initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the program empowers young leaders to drive meaningful change in their communities. As the official five-year youth mobilization initiative for the SDGs in the Philippines, the Convergence aims to cultivate a new generation of SDG champions committed to accelerating progress toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The four-day convergence will feature a series of activities designed to foster meaningful and holistic youth participation in sustainable development. The program opens on June 25 with plenary and panel discussions featuring leaders from the UN, government, civil society, and youth sectors. These sessions will provide delegates with a deeper understanding of the SDGs, the 2030 Agenda, and the current state of SDG implementation in the Philippines.

On June 26, delegates will take part in immersive learning experiences across key sites in Puerto Princesa City, where they will witness how local communities advance the SDGs through innovation, partnership, and grassroots action. The day will conclude with a solidarity dinner and open mic night at the Iwahig Firefly Restaurant.

The third day, June 27, will feature thematic breakout sessions anchored on the five pillars of sustainable development. These discussions will enable delegates to engage with UN representatives and development partners, explore shared priorities, and identify opportunities for collaboration. In the evening, the Ten Outstanding UN SDGs Awards will recognize exemplary youth-led initiatives that have made significant contributions to sustainable development in their communities.

The Convergence will culminate on June 28 with the launch of the UN SDG Youth Council, a platform that seeks to sustain youth engagement and collaboration beyond the event. The closing ceremony will also include the awarding of certificates to delegates in recognition of their participation throughout the event.

The 2026 UN SDGs Youth Convergence is organized by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Philippines (UN SDSN Youth PH), led by its Executive Director Christopher Doroja. Since its establishment in 2015, UN SDSN Youth PH has grown into one of the country’s largest youth networks, bringing together more than 800 partner organizations and 650,000 young people nationwide in advancing the SDGs.
