Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just broke the world record for “fastest time to gain one million followers on Instagram” after the two launched their official joint account as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In a statement released by the Guinness World Records, the account which was set up on April 2 had reached the 1 million follower count in just 5 hours and 45 minutes. This allegedly led to Instagram momentarily crashing as a result of the high user volume.
This also signals Meghan Markle’s return to the social media platform since she deleted her personal account in 2018 ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry.

Previous title owners have been Kang Daniel, a former member of KPOP Group Wanna One, who achieved his 1 million follower count in 11 hours and 36 minutes, and Pope Francis who did so in under 12 hours.
As of writing, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s official Instagram account has 3.7 million followers.
