In an exclusive video released by GMA News, President Rodrigo Duterte urges “Wowowin” host Willie Revillame to run for senator in the upcoming 2022 elections. The president said, “Willie, si mayor ‘to. Kumusta ka? Matagal na tayong ‘di nagkita pero palagi kitang naaalala dahil gusto ko sanang maging senador ka.” (Rough translation: Willie, this is ‘mayor’. How are you? We have not seen each other in a while but I always remember you because I wanted you to become a senator.)
Despite Revillame reportedly having second thoughts on running as a senatorial candidate next year, Duterte said that the slot is open for the host until the last minute. In the meantime, the president wished more power to Revillame’s TV show and expressed his admiration for the host’s mass appeal.
