Looks like there will be a female-centric Pirates of the Caribbean movie and it will star Birds of Prey leading actress Margot Robbie.
Reports say that Robbie will lead the upcoming film, which is one of the biggest movie franchises from Disney. The movie is allegedly in the early part of development.
Apparently, this move is a way for Disney to take part into reimagining movies with females as leads. For instance, a female-centric reboot of Ghostbusters was released in 2016 while Oceans 8, a female version of the Ocean’s series of films, came out in 2018.
Although it has been revealed that Robbie will take part in this movie, the storyline hasn’t been revealed yet. What we know is that it is currently being written by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson. The movie will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.
