The Fianza siblings delivered a commanding performance at the recently concluded Pilipinas College Golf Series: Battle of the North, held at the picturesque John Hay Golf Club in Baguio City.
Returning from an injury that sidelined her during last month’s finals at Alabang Country Club, Iya Fianza of Ateneo de Manila University displayed resilience and skill, clinching her 4th singles title. In a tightly contested match, she outlasted Monique Mendoza and Julia Lorenzo, who finished 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively. With this win, Iya caps off an undefeated singles career as she graduates from Ateneo this year.
Her brother, Enzo Fianza, also of Ateneo, closed his college golf journey with a dramatic victory. In his final appearance, Enzo birdied two of the last three holes to win the Class A Division Championship via countback, edging out UP’s Joshua Buenaventura and fellow Atenean Anton Lao, both of whom finished with equal scores.
In the Class B Division, Enzo Udasco (ADMU) emerged victorious with a clutch performance on the 18th hole, edging Church Uyco (UST) and Ryan Tanco (UP) in a thrilling finish.

The tournament also celebrated the successful debut of Saint Louis University’s official golf team, marking an exciting development in collegiate golf in Northern Luzon. SLU joined other Baguio-based athletes, including players from the University of the Cordilleras, in competing against the nation’s top universities from Metro Manila.
