Pia-Marlon fans have taken a collective sigh of relief after, towards the end of 2017, photos of the couple began resurfacing on social media. And although Pia nor Marlon never said anything, the public assumed that the couple broke up for a while following reports that the racer-model fathered twins with former girlfriend Kit Barraquias.
The Miss Universe 2015 titleholder, however, has broken her silence, revealing that the paternity issue didn’t ruin their relationship and that she never considered breaking up with Marlon at all.
Sharing that the F1 racer has been part of her life for a while now, in an interview with Boy Abunda, Pia said:
“I actually realized this for a while now — Marlon is first and foremost my best friend before he is my boyfriend. He knows me so well already.”
Pia shared that her boyfriend was there for her during the emotional time when she had to pass on her crown to Iris Mittanaere last year and move back to the Philippines.
The beauty queen also shared that she and Marlon simply decided to “lay low” with their relationship.
“I was strategic with our relationship.
We would lay low and not post anything. But it didn’t mean we were on a break. People thought we broke up, but we were just taking a break from all the eyes and ears.”
