Philippine Junior Marketing Association: Maximizing Opportunities through Professional Forum and Marketista Awards

To Maximize Opportunities is exactly what the Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA) is trying to do for future marketers nationwide that is why they were all out in their last events of the academic year: Professional Forum & Marketista Awards. The free-of-charge conference and awarding took place last Saturday, March 16 at SC Auditorium of Colegio de San Juan de Letran with future marketers having participated from the different member schools of the federation.

Marketing has different fields: Advertising, Sales, Market Research and more. To help students determine what kind of career path they would like to probably venture into, Professional Forum invited industry-based professionals to share their corporate knowledge and this was made possible by the event’s project director, Jillian Ong.

Not only was the Professional Forum limited to the usual talks but the highlight of the event was that attending participants were able to submit their resumes to over a hundred partner companies of PJMA.

Professional Forum served as a venue for students to connect to the corporate world. Ms. Ong summed it up, “As an organizer, it was a privilege to work with a competent team. It’s an honor for me that I organized the last PJMA event for this school year. My aim was to bridge the gap between the students and the corporate world. Through the professional forum, the students are given the chance to learn from industry professionals. I’m proud to say that through my programs as the Chairperson for professional relations, I was able to provide internship opportunities to our members and a strong foundation on the career path they will take.”

The five-hour Professional Forum was followed by the most awaited Marketista Awards. It was the first time PJMA launched an annual search for The Outstanding Junior Marketing Association of the Philippines (TOJMA) together with other special awards. Mark Joseph Santos, the project director of the Marketista Awards, together with the members of the PJMA National Executive Board and the VP for Youth and Academe of the Philippine Marketing Association, thoroughly screened each entry: for TOJMA, it was according to the different projects and events spearheaded by local Junior Marketing Associations in their respective
schools. For major awards, it was through uniqueness, marketability, relevance and documentation.

Mr. Santos was overwhelmed by the turnout of the participation from several different schools considering that this was the first launching of the event, “As the founding chairman of Marketista Awards-TOJMA, I am very happy that the federation was able to acknowledge the marketing excellence of different local Junior Marketing Associations in the Philippines. Indeed, local JMAs’ school based projects have changed the marketing scene in the country and contributed a lot for the betterment of every aspiring Filipino Marketista.”

The Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA) is a non-profit, non-sectarian, non-stock, and non-political business-oriented and student- managed organization. It is the national federation of all Junior Marketing Associations (JMAs) and notably, the official youth affiliate of the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA).
