MBY Sanctuary founder Marita Baquiran raised the white flag early this June in feeding the 400 cats and 150 dogs under the sanctuary’s care due to recent economic problems.
“[Marita Baquiran] has personally funded an animal shelter larger than the ones run by most established PH-based AW Organizations with very little financial help from others”, wrote Eric Suguitan, a Senior Volunteer of CARA Welfare Philippines on a Facebook post after visiting the sanctuary. “She has just about used up her personal resources and even sold almost all her properties in the PH just to make sure the previously unwanted dogs and cats would live a more normal life. She, as well as MBY, deserves our help and respect. It’s the right thing to do.”
