Palawan is Declared the Best Island in the World
Just days after the Philippines was included in the list of Top 10 Countries to Visit in 2015, one of our many islands got an even bigger recognition: world’s best island. In Conde Nast Traveler‘s annual lists for the Reader’s Choice Awards, Palawan was declared as the best island in the world.
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River is a sight to behold
According to the magazine, “This small island—one of the Philippines’ 7,107—shot to the top of our list this year with a recent claim to fame: It’s now home to one of the new seven natural wonders of the world, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River.” They described the river as “one of the longest underground rivers in the world, traveling five miles through a subterranean cave system. Guided boat tours take visitors down a portion of the waterway, where karsts, natural rock formations created by dissolving limestone, loom in every direction.”
The beaches are the perfect escape from the city life
Palawan beat world-famous islands like Hawaii, the Great Barrier Reef, Santorini, Bermuda, Bali, Maldives, French Polynesia, and Bora Bora. Palawan’s score was 88.750.
Of course, Boracay also made it to the list as the 12th best island. The magazine noted its “gentle coastlines,” “thriving nightlife scene,” “powdery white sand,” and “azule water.”

Yes the best Island. and it will never gonna last long until we realize how we protect outside or inside of the island, below and above water… El Nido town start to be like Boracay, now think about it… Is it good or bad? Northern Eastcoast of El Nido still rapid about dynamite fishing, also Linapacan island which very pristine still prune to this kind of fishing, only certain areas around that the pearl farming exist is protected because they have protection, same in Coron and Busuanga, west coast of Culion Island still go with this… Why I know it because I am always there… in this regions… If we really care about this we should start doing something also the Kaingineros, before the way to waterfalls of El Nido is shaded because of trees, now its gone… Are we still believing that there is no other way… It’s the job of the LGU and Provincial Government, Nationala will not care because it dosn’t affect them much, but people who live here must do something… Now I open it here I hope they read this…
